Project Jericho Sounding Rocket
1. Team Training & HPR Theory
The Theory: Teach new recruits compressible aerodynamics, Barrowman’s stability equations, and dual-deployment recovery physics.
The Process: Standardize flight simulation workflows in OpenRocket/RockSim and implement strict chemical handling safety protocols for propellants.
2. High-Class Motor Manufacturing
Propellant R&D: Scale up composite propellant chemistry; optimize core geometries (e.g., finocyl/star) for controlled chamber pressure (Pc).
Hardware: Machine 6061-T6 aluminum casings and design CFD-optimized convergent-divergent graphite nozzles with dual O-ring sealing.
3. Project Jericho (Experimental Rocket)
Airframe: Construct a lightweight, high-strength carbon fiber or fiberglass structure.
Systems: Integrate dual-redundant commercial altimeters, real-time GPS telemetry, and an automated black-powder ejection system for recovery.
4. Sponsorship & Collaboration
Barter & Materials: Pitch to regional machining and plasma-cutting centers to secure raw materials and manufacturing facilities.
Industry Value: Offer companies brand visibility on the airframe, alignment with student-led STEM initiatives, and early access to top automation/robotics talent.
